Airpods 3 vs Airpods Pro: Which is the Better Buds in Every way?

In the Airpods 3 vs Airpods pro battle, we have evaluated both of Apple’s best wireless earbuds for you. The new AirPods 3 (Airpods 3rd generation) are a considerable improvement over the very popular AirPods 2. It incorporates new features (such as MagSafe charging and skin-detect sensors) as well as series stalwarts (such as "Hey Siri" voice activation and Spatial Audio) into a familiar form. It also has better battery life, which fans have been clamouring for since the second-gen edition hit shop shelves.

In the tiniest AirPods design yet, the Airpods Pro provides adaptive sound, customizable fit, and effective active noise cancellation. And with each new iOS version, its feature set expands even more; we expect this to continue with the anticipated AirPods Pro 2.

Celebrated as two of the best headphones and earbuds online, here’s what we know about the Airpods 3 vs Airpods pro.

No Noise Cancellation but Spatial Audio Will Cover for It

The AirPods Pro have built-in active noise cancellation, which is why you'd choose them over the AirPods 3. As a result, you may take them out into the world without being bothered by outside noise. They're our go-to travel buddies for this reason, and they're great on your commute when you just need to unwind. Even if you don't choose the more powerful active noise cancellation option, the basic AirPods will provide some passive noise isolation due to the buds obstructing a portion of the ear canal. Although this isn't as effective as true ANC, you should be aware that both buds will provide some noise reduction.

Further, several AirPods Pro features have been carried over to the AirPods 3, including full support for Apple spatial audio with Dolby Atmos and dynamic head-tracking, which should provide the same immersive experience to listeners.

The Same Comfy Curves With No Tips

The AirPods 3 were rumoured to be called the 'AirPods Pro Lite,' and it's easy to see why. With much thinner stems, force sensors, and earpieces aimed to fire straight into your earholes, Apple's newest buds take a page from the AirPods Pro. On the other hand, the AirPods Pro are really comfy, and the box includes three pairs of elliptical tips. Because of its solid fit and seal, there is an option of interchangeable silicon tips. If you choose the AirPods 3, you'll have to hope that they'll fit snugly right away.

The updated buds have the same IPX4 rating as the AirPods Pro, which means they can withstand sweat and water. The noise-canceling AirPods Pro are somewhat heavier (5.4g) than the standard AirPods. The charging case also looks similar to the one you get with the original AirPods, rather than the more rectangular case provided with the AirPods Pro. Upgrades include a coloured LED on the front telling you how much charge is left.

A slightly bigger battery

Apple finally heard the user's pleas and has increased the battery's life. The AirPods Pro are said to have a playback time of 4.5 hours and a charging time of 19 hours. If you're willing to disable noise-cancelling, you can get even more life out of the battery. The AirPods 3 improve on this by utilising improved battery technology. They have a 30-hour battery life (six from the buds, 24 from the case), but no noise cancellation. Furthermore, Apple's battery management is top-notch, with features like Optimized Battery Charging that learns your charging habits and stops charging at 80% to reduce wear. Quick charging stays the same, with a 5-minute charge providing one hour of use, one of the fastest results in the category.

Which one should you buy? The Pro or Just Go With Airpods 3?

If you are looking to shop for AirPods in the near future, it is important to know the differences between Apple AirPods 3 vs. AirPods Pro. The AirPods 3 are moderately priced at 240 AUD than the AirPods Pro which are 340 AUD with different specifications and features.

To brief the differences for you, the AirPods 3 lack active noise cancellation and custom ear tips. They do, however, get some of the AirPods Pro's audio features such as Spatial Audio and Adaptive EQ. The newest buds also have a longer battery life and are sweat and water resistant. If you don't want to pay too much for AirPods Pro but don't want to buy two-year-old Apple headphones, the new AirPods 3 could be the perfect compromise. The AirPods 3 are a mix of the original AirPods and AirPods Pro that fill a gap in Apple's in-house headphone portfolio. The AirPods 3 are, however, at a disadvantage to the AirPods Pro because they lack ANC and Transparency Mode. Active noise cancellation is a deal breaker for many people. But with spatial audio and adaptive EQ, they aren’t all that bad.

Although it's not as black and grey as it seems, we believe that the AirPods Pro are the best truly wireless earbuds for the vast majority of iOS users. They should be nearly as cheap as the AirPods 3 when they go on sale, and features like active noise cancellation and interchangeable earbuds make them more comfortable and functional than their more recent rivals. However, on the other hand, we can make a case for the AirPods 3 too because they have many of the same features as the Pro (with the exception of the two we just discussed) and are significantly less expensive.

So, before you go to splurge your money, it is good to identify and know your exact needs and requirements. After that, you may then take a look at the huge list of the best headphones and wireless earbuds in the market. Also keep in mind that the AirPods Pro 2 could be released within the next 12 months, resulting in some of the finest AirPods Pro discounts yet so you may want to hold on for a bit.
