Buy Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM Lens
Sony's FE 35mm f/1.4 GM is characterized by its fast performance and relatively compact design. From street photography to landscapes and documentary subjects, this versatile focal length excels in all light conditions and allows for a great deal of depth of field control. The G Master lens features two EXTREME ASPHERICAL (XA) elements and one extra-low dispersion element to reduce aberrations, color fringing, and distortion, and Nano AR II coating to suppress flare and ghosting.
This can also be applied to APS-C digital cameras, in which case the equivalent focal length would be 52.5mm. It's designed for Sony's E-mount mirrorless cameras, but can also be used with models with APS-C mountings.
The fast f/1.4 maximum aperture is useful in low lighting and gives more control over the depth of field.
The optical design uses two extra-aspherical elements (XAs) that are superior in surface precision and offer effective control of astigmatism, field curvature, coma, distortion, and other spherical aberrations.
With the use of an extra-low dispersion element, this lens offers superior color neutrality and clarity by reducing chromatic aberrations and color fringing.
Nano AR Coating II reduces surface reflections, flares, and ghosting to improve color and contrast under bright lighting conditions. Updated coatings are better suited to larger, curved elements and are best at reducing internal reflections.
Fast, quiet, and precise autofocus performance is delivered by two XD Linear Motors and an internal focusing design. Linear Response manual focus control is also more intuitive and natural due to this design, and an AF/MF switch is located on the lens barrel for tactile control.
The lens barrel features a tactile focus-hold button which allows quick access to select settings and intuitive handling.
Video applications can benefit from a smooth, silent aperture switch by de-clicking the physical aperture ring.
Rubberized control rings and dust and moisture-proofing make handling in cold conditions easier.
This front element is fluorine-coated to resist dust, moisture, and fingerprints.
